Tips for Dealing with Coyotes 2017 (002).pdf
We have been communicating with KY Wildlife and other nearby neighborhoods, they have been very helpful. Other neighborhoods that we have spoken to are Hurstbourne, Douglass Hills and Lake Forest. They have all communicated that removing coyotes will worsen the problem, as coyotes are territorial and more coyotes will come into areas, so best advice is to try to prevent the problem by not letting your cats roam the neighborhood, do not feed strays, keep your trash contained, as well as all pet food. Always supervise your pets when they are outside. If you encounter a coyote, do not run or approach them.
Do make loud noises: shout, whistle, clap hands, stomp feet.
Do appear larger: wave arms, widen stance, wave a walking stick.
This is a state wide issue, as with more areas being developed, every neighborhood in our area has coyote dens and sightings.
